Saturday Mornings: Feeding Hope - "Food From the Heart" Supports 70,000 Singaporeans in Need
🌍 It's hard to imagine that up to 100,000 Singaporeans don't have enough to eat each day. MoneyFM 89.3 Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen talks with Ron Stride, Chairman, and Chin Bottinelli, Guarantor at Food From the Heart.  This week on the Singapore Home Brew, we spotlight one of Singapore’s most impactful community organisations to share how the charity is nourishing lives and strengthening social resilience across the island. Founded in 2003 by Austrian couple Henry and Christine Laimer, Food From the Heart began with a simple mission: redirect surplus bread to families who needed it. Today, that mission has grown into a nationwide movement supporting 23,000 households and distributing 164,000 food packs annually from schoolchildren to seniors. We explore the rising urgency of food insecurity in Singapore, where studies show that over 10% of households have experienced difficulty accessing nutritious meals. Despite improvements post‑pandemic, nearly half of affected families report no change in their circumstances. Food From the Heart steps into this gap with sustainable, long‑term programmes designed to provide consistent, reliable support. From bread runs to community pantries, from volunteer mobilisation to corporate partnerships, this is a story of compassion, innovation, and the belief that no one in Singapore should go hungry.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Saturday Mornings: Remembering Ted Turner - The Politically Incorrect Maverick Who Invented 24 Hour News and Changed the World
🌍This week, the broadcasting world lost a giant — a man whose influence reaches every newsroom, every screen, and every listener tuned into MoneyFM89.3. Ted Turner was the bold, controversial, visionary founder of CNN; he died at the age of 87 on 6 May 2026. His audacity didn’t just change television; it changed how the entire world receives news. MoneyFM 89.3 Saturday Mornings Show host Glenn van Zutphen talks with Michael Holmes, former CNN International anchor and correspondent for 28 years from Atlanta. Michael is one of countless journalists who lived Turner’s legacy from the inside. He helps us understand the man behind the revolution — and why Ted Turner’s impact on global storytelling remains unmatched.  From launching the world’s first 24‑hour news channel in 1980 to building TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network and Turner Classic Movies, Turner reshaped global media, sports, entertainment, and even environmental philanthropy. He was called many things — “The Mouth of the South,” “Captain Outrageous,” a disruptor, a genius — but above all, he was a builder of institutions that still define modern journalism. We look at the life and legacy of a man I had the privilege to meet several times during my years at CNN International including a memorable dinner with him when I served as President of the Atlanta Press Club in 2003-2004.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
