He is a 5th generation true-blue Peranakan, Celebrity Chef Philip Chia is not only a widely renowned MasterChef, but an established Peranakan cookbook author, official consultant for the TV show ‘The Little Nonya” and advocate for the lost art and culture of Peranakan heritage foods that “bring my kawan kawan together”. In between his very busy schedules, Philip runs two, The Real Peranakan restaurants, namely at Hillcrest and Kim Yam Road. The Real Peranakan prides itself as not using artificial ingredients such as MSG and synthetic flavours.
